Aamir Khan's PK seems to be marching totally strong in just five days. The film opened excellently and became the highest non-holiday opening grosser of 2014. Interestingly, the film has so far kept up a good pace over the weekdays. PK has currently collected 135.28 crores in five days at the domestic box office.
PK made commendable business in the week days and it is higher than the likes of Happy New Year and Kick which are the Top Grossers of the year. With a Christmas holiday on Thursday, PK is expected to make a huge business and may be almost equivalent to its Sunday collections.
If PK makes a business in the range of 32-34 crores on Thursday, the film could make the highest first week business of all time as it will reach a total of 190 crores plus. This would be way higher than HNY, Kick, Bang Bang and in fact Aamir may break his own record of Dhoom-3 which had collected 185.50 crores in its first week.

Action Jackson remained dull over the second week. The film collected, 80 lacs on Monday, 70 lacs on Tuesday, 60 lacs on Wednesday and 55 lacs on Thursday during it 2nd week in India. The film now stands with a total collection of 55.25 crores at the domestic box office.
This is an extremely poor performance for a Ajay Devgan film. Action Jackson after being trashed by reviewers, the film failed to impress the audiences to. The film's music too was not popular enough. This masala action flick was performing only in single screens but now with the release of PK, it is expected to fold in majority of circuits.

PK releases this Friday and it is a given that it would open well. However, the question is ''how well'', considering the fact that it has been a depressing period at the box office of late. With not a single film after Happy New Year taking a good opening, these have been disappointing times at the box office. As it happens when it comes to the mood of the audience, a series of flops deflates all hopes whatsoever and hence it is important that PK reverses the trend.
Considering the fact that it has the kind of names attached [Rajkumar Hirani, Aamir Khan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra] that spell magic, one hopes for a biggie.
There has been absolutely nothing revealed about the core plot of the film which in a way is a good sign as audience can pretty much expect major surprises in store, as was the case with Lage Raho Munna Bhai as well as 3 Idiots. On the other hand music of the film has been a letdown, as a result of which it is going to be the core content that would have to do the talking.
All in all, this is the last hope [figuratively as well as literally] that Bollywood has in 2014 and while 32-35 crore opening day is optimal, practically speaking even 30 crore would be a good sign considering the fact that the film is arriving on a non-holiday.

There were multiple films that released over the weekend gone by and out of these only three managed to get some kind of a release Badlapur Boys, Main Aur Mr. Riight and Life Mein Twist Hai. As expected though, none of them could fetch even decent collections.
While the promotion was sub-par to begin with, minimal shows further hampered the cause for these films. As a result, there were abysmal numbers all over and by the time weekend came to a close, the picture was clear on the wall, what with combined collections of these films being less than 1crore.
For the last few weeks the scenario has been anyways bad for the exhibitors due to low footfalls and the week gone by only rubbed salt on the wounds. In comparison, cinemas down South still had a lot to cheer about due to the release of Rajinikanth’s Lingaa. With the film, Sonakshi Sinha too could smile after the disappointment of Action Jackson.
However, in totality, the situation has been pretty bleak for Bollywood towards the end of the year and one just hopes that P.K. and then films to follow in 2015 reverse the trend.
