Fireflies Full Movie Review

No comments :

Movie: Fireflies
Rating: 3/5 Stars [Three stars]
Star Cast: Monica Dogra, Rahul Khanna, Arjun Mathur, Shivani Ghai, Aadya Bedi
Director: Sabal Singh Sheikhawat
What’s Good: A strong blend of passion and angst frames its core story and is delivered through a couple of solid performances.

What’s Bad: The story has its own share of incoherence and suffers from loopy writing. In parts, it drags and its drama doesn’t remain crisp consistently.

Loo break: Pretty many

Watch or Not ?: Fireflies brings out that piercing tinge of heartbreak beautifully in its 1 hour 45 minutes run time. But the film’s scripting is scattered, with the two equally potent stories running parallel individually and yet never blending smoothly to make a heart wrenching concoction. The film works in parts for me, for its performances, for its soul and its narrative, but it fails to reach that cut of beauty it had the potential to achieve. The jerk of the sudden climax revels in its all consuming, vulnerability which is liberating to watch and that is what makes it an unmissable watch.

Shiv (Rahul Khanna) is a young, South Bombay businessman, who on the apparent is stably married. The emptiness of his marriage doesn’t hit him until he meets his ex lover an former girlfriend Sharmila. His brother Rana, who cannot hold on to a job rediscovers his life in television bylanes of Bangkok, falls in love with a free spirited writer and tastes the hardships of unrequited love.
The string binding both Shiv and Rana is their common past, stained with pain more than love. Fireflies is the story of finding happiness and way back home.

Fireflies Full Movie Review Script Analysis: The vision of Fireflies doesn't go beyond the perspective of its narrator who defines everything about the film, its soul and its spirit. But the problem is its plagued with myopia and tries to tick all the expected boxes. Cheating husbands, failing relationships, tormented past are all out of the plethora one can easily foresee. In terms of story, there is no power to it in terms of novelty and yet what works is its storytelling which is intricately wrapped in poetry. In one of the scenes where an estranged couple are falling back in love after many years, over heady glasses of Cabarnet Sauvignon, there is a certain beauty and magic in their love.

The story begins dull, the tempo weak and shaky in parts. And yet, once Shiv and Ila are together they light up the story with their love. Somehow the unrequited quality in their love enticed me more than that of Rana and Michelle’s, whom convenience drew together. Rana is a complex guy, still bearing the heaviness of his guilt. In simple ways he conveys it. At one point, he tells his brother how he returned the money he had borrowed from him in a week. There is an evident undercurrent of brooding tension between the siblings and since the film doesn’t offer its reason to you in its first part, the gravity of it hits you much later once its background and backstory is let out.

The film’s story is somewhat half baked but it is how it’s told that holds your attention. It doesn’t force you to think but drags you into the lives of its characters who are flawed, craving for love and are all bogged down by weights of their past. There is a lot of literature well used in this film and the script's strength arises from its Heartfelt love.

Fireflies Full Movie Review Star Performances: Rahul Khanna fits the bill perfectly with his suave demeanor and subtle acting. Emoting well with his eyes, he is fantastic outright.

Arjun Mathur who went pretty much wasted in Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance was used well in this film and I can safely say he brings out the dilemma of this character alive.

Monica Dogra doesn’t achieve half of her brilliance of Dhobi Ghat. She was stiff and not exactly fantastic.

Shivani Ghai is quite good in the role and her chemistry with Rahul sparkles enough to give the first half of the film its beauty.
Fireflies Full Movie Review Direction. Editing and Screenplay: Sabal pits the film wrong and had he presented it as a love story more and mystery tale less, it would have worked better. The actors are stellar and the direction is toned rightly. The only problem of this film is that it doesn’t culminate correct. It is weak in places, and picks up slow. The tempo falters in places and mostly plagued with loopy myopia that despite a unique storytelling and narration, the only problem is its vision limits the film’s beauty. There is no novelty ofcourse but the poetic tinge is what entraps in its story. Even if its pace falls slack, the poetry makes it easier for you to sit through it. The soft music furthers the film and smoothly blends with the narrative.

Fireflies Full Movie Review The Last Word: Fireflies beautifully sums up the concept of coming around in life and its Cecilia Ahern-ish tone of optimistic view of tackling unrequited love is what works as the film’s USP. The brilliant performances of Arjun and Rahul reigns but in the end the flawed beauty of the film has an uncompromising flow in it. It is not a brilliant movie but is definitely worth a watch for its tone and pitch. I am going with 3 stars.

Roar Full Movie Review

No comments :

Movie: Roar
Rating: 0/5 Stars [Zero star]
Star Cast: Abhinav Shukla, Himarsha V, Achint Kaur, Pradeep Dutta, Virendra Singh Ghuman, Nora Fateh, Ali Quli, Karan Chaudhary, Aadil chahal, Pranay Kumar, Jawahar Pulkit
Director: Kamal Sadanah

What's Good: Well, that's very inappropriate question to ask when a film crosses the purview of horrid.

What's Bad: The research primarily facts are incorrect, obviously logic goes for a toss, the actors are not clearly the best thing about the film and the mostly C-grade, unrequired skin show in the film which is unintentionally hilarious.

Loo break: Do not be in the loo. Bad because Cult Must Not Be Missed!

Watch or Not ?: Roar is such a bad film that despite going in with no expectations, it shocks you at being utterly stupid. It's a film shamelessly lazy and comes with no merits of its own. And in the end, it's the kind of movie that will make you laugh and serve as fodder for the guys behind 'pretentious movie reviews. Like Gunda is for posterity in the ranks of cult bad, Roar has the same fabric but misses the genius of being originally awful. This movie stinks of un-intelligence and sheer lameness and is pretty much a waste time for any cinegoer unless you desire to get stoned and trip on a horrid movie.
A young photo journalist Uday, rescues a white tiger cub from the Sundarbans. But has to submit him back to the forest authorities. Later that day, the young guy is slain by the tigress cub whose it was and Uday's body is not to be found anywhere. Uday's brother Pundit, a commando in the army, decides on avenging his brother's death by killing the tigress.

An attack team is called and a plan is hatched. But with the tigress ounces being more powerful than them put together, the team scrambles under the power of the tigress. One after the other falls prey to her attack. Whether Pundit kills her and avenges the death of all who she killed or does he get humanity to stand tall over the animal instincts, which separates our clan from theirs?

Roar Full Movie Review Script Analysis: When the film began it was merely offensive. After all, a bunch of army men launch a full blown operation to kill a white tiger in the Sundarbans. But then the unintentional humor takes over and everytime the tiger eats up a man, you woot! It is one of those films which doesn’t want to waste its precious energies at being logical. It’s fine with being lame and grating. The women have deliberately decided on not wearing much clothes. The distinctly suggestive wardrobe of its female characters seemed like a trap to get a good section of the single screen audiences to hit the screens. No, they don’t care two hoots about the tigers in the film but the ladies in the film have performed enough crowd-pulling stunts.

The story walks on a very thin line and advances aimlessly. The sudden change of heart of a group of bloodthirsty people who have come to avenge the death of their month and are intending to have a face off with a tigress. The logic why Sundarban tigers are becoming maneaters is flimsy because though tigers eat dead humans, they prefer hunting their meat. A specific shot of a wild boar irked me. A bunch of aggressive hunters who come from a very primitive thought background wrote this film.

Coming to the lack of I.Q, there apparently is one, not very competent forest officer incharge of Sundarbans Reserve. She functions alone in saving tigers and doesn’t have a team. Besides these visible problem, the story doesn’t cover the entire gamut of poaching that is a bigger problem of Sundarbans than tigers killing people. Written in a preachy tone, with enough discrepancies, the film’s pivotal problem is it goes thoroughly wrong towards the climax where the unconvincing change of heart kills the plot. Not that it was going impeccably till then but the fatal blow killed the unadulterated crappy fun that the film was offering. The last 20 minutes of the film was horribly comatose incurring variety of boring.
Roar Full Movie Review Star Performances: I wish I had a kind word to say about any actor in the film. But none were good enough to even stand a chance of being memorable.

Abhinav Shukla is all handsome and tries to the brink of futility to act well. While his forte is clearly playing the mush man on television, despite all the machismo, he fails.

Himarsha as Jhumpa lacked earnestness of finesse.

Achint Kaur in her thankless role worked well but she is better than a 4 scene actress and needs to grab better parts in better films.

Subrat Dutta played sly and wicked Bheera well. Given his background makes such roles come easier to him but then again a role in a film this bad cannot yield a better reaction from anyone.

The rest are all forgettable actors who need to strive a long way to go before rising to the ranks of anything good.

Roar Full Movie Review Direction. Editing and Screenplay: Had it been marketed as a cinematographic piece, the film would have seemed more genuine but the fatal problem lies in the fact that the film claims to tell an enticing story and kills you while at it. Kamal Sadanah has reinvented trash cinema with such flair. Visibly smoldering girls fighting in cat fight moves and another entry shot of a tracker coming out of water all suggest that the women in this film were briefed to be hot, show skin and dance like they are their highest point of libido. The rest of the film is a massacre of any cinegoer who ventures into it and takes it seriously. I learnt it quite early in the film that the more you try to wreck your brains about analyzing, the more will you entangle your brains. It’s epic trash film, treat it accordingly.

Roar Full Movie Review The Last Word: I am glad Roar could atleast make me laugh. Because the film is so pointless that it doesn’t serve anything it attempts to or thought of achieving. In the end, you come out with both a headache from all the stupidity you had to witness and a stomach ache from all the laughing. I am going with a zero. I wasted enough time writing about my harrowing experience and stars aren’t needed beyond that.

Happy New Year Full Movie Review

No comments :

Movie: Happy New Year
Rating: 2/5 Stars [Two stars]
Star Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Vivaan Shah
Director: Farah Khan

What’s Good: The actors are all earnest and the opulent canvas sure works in retaining your attention.

What’s Bad: It lacks Farah Khan’s witty streak. The heist track just doesn’t work and the film’s second hour is plain unconvincing. Low on the needful IQ that could have made the robbery believable, the film’s thrill tapestry was on the weaker side.

Loo break: Spend a good chunk of post interval in the loo.

Watch or Not ?: Happy New Year is two distinct films rolled in one. While the first hour is breezy, fun and pretty watchable, the second hour is a convoluted mess with a heist angle that doesn’t work, a romantic track that seems forced, the vivaciousness lacking from the camaraderie of the characters and the sappyness of a dukhbhari daastan of a backstory. It is a half baked film that uses all the regular formulaic heist tools and naturally offers nothing unseen or unexpected. The predictability of the climax was the most fatal blow for the film. It isn’t unwatchable but horridly disappointing. Farah Khan has better mettle I believe and her funda of keeping it simple, garbed in floss doesn’t work this time.

Charlie [Shah Rukh Khan] is looking to avenge the humiliation of his father who was put in a wrong spot by Grover [Jackie Shroff]. Following him and tracking him for 8 years led him to the momentous day when Grover will keep protected a handful of rare diamonds.

Charlie builds a team of people whom he calls Charlie’s Angels to participate in World Dance Championship which will lead them to the diamonds they want to steal. Nandu Bhide [Abhishek Bachchan], Jags [Sonu Sood], Tammy [Boman Irani] and Rohan [Vivaan Shah] along with their dance teacher Mohini [Deepika Padukone] train for the championship.

How a bunch of losers manage to sneak out the diamonds from the world’s safest locker is what the film entails. A series of events and a tight climax leads to the downfall of Grover that Charlie had plotted for 8 years.

Happy New Year Full Movie Review Script Analysis: Farah Khan keeps the story simple indeed. It’s neatly written but the problem is she chooses a wrong theme to tell simply. I wish Farah had restricted the film to her forte, dance! But she tries too many things. There is a feeble backstory of a loser, who we are told is a Boston University Topper. Clearly daddy issues cost him a career and he is currently an unemployed loser. He gets a bunch of co-losers to assist him on an ambitious heist project to avenge the humiliation his father was put through. At one of the film’s initial scenes, Jackie Shroff announces at a press conference, almost as an invitation to robbers all over the world about how his security system is foolproof and will be guarding a bunch of diamonds worth a fortune.

Charlie takes up the challenge and makes a team of people who in all likelihood will fail at robbing the bank next to your house. The first half of the film isn’t brilliant either but atleast it is kept thick and consistent. There is a lot of dance and a lot stupidity because Farah couldn’t let go off her genetic affinity towards churning out no-brainers. Being the older and the more intelligent one of the ''Humshakals'' siblings, Farah keeps falling back to dialogues of Shah Rukh’s previous films. King Khan’s tendency of self referencing is clearly used as a crucial clap trap here.

However, in the second half all the eerie things in the world begin happening. The dance team of amateurs take a Dubai trip by blackmailing in-the-closet Gay judges and hacking vote bank in their favor. Once they are in Dubai, the film forgets its entity as a revenge saga and becomes a patriotic film. Deepika even does a SRK’s Sattar minute speech from Chak De India. All hunky dory, the second hour is low on everything that was the best thing about this film. There’s no dance. They are just a bunch of buffoons who are stalking a few diamonds. Farah even draws inspiration from brother Sajid Khan and creates a Humshakals angle here.

The climax was utterly wasted in melodrama. The biggest problem with Happy New Year is its inconsistency. It isn’t a revenge drama because the villain is never made to stand out. The theft is unintelligent. And what’s left is a bunch of talented people getting themselves mocked. The film was a hotch potch and by the end of it, if you survive, you are lucky.

Happy New Year Full Movie Review Star Performances: Shah Rukh Khan looks droolworthy. I am not a fan of the Superstar but the actor’s caliber despite remaining unused in the films he takes up, he easily is one of the things in the film that keeps you latched. The role doesn’t do justice to his caliber but the SRK swagger helps in an underwhelming film like this.

Deepika Padukone is earnest and doesn’t have merely an arm candy role. Though her screen space isn’t a lot, the actress has done a terrific job.

Abhishek Bachchan is effortless and hams well. But then again, despite a lot of screen presence his character is not well invested in the film.

Boman Irani brings in his wicked humor and is immensely endearing in his role. Though a lot of the antics, Farah made him do were weird, Irani pulled it all off smartly.

Sonu Sood goes almost unnoticed and wasted. I think he shouldn’t accept such thankless roles where all he is required to do is flaunt his body.

Vivaan Shah wasn’t as much a misfit as one would have thought. He is good and blends in smoothly with the rest of the cast.

Jackie Shroff goes wasted despite his menacing demeanor. Farah doesn’t build his character into anything meaty and anyone could have easily filled in for him. Shroff doesn’t get his usual quirk because the role barely allows him anything.

Happy New Year Full Movie Review Direction. Editing and Screenplay: Farah Khan has created a confused film. Happy New Year is a misguided, misfired product that doesn’t know where it wants to end up. The humor was lame and though the design calls for it, one expects better from the other half of Sajid Khan (for some strange reason). I am glad, atleast the film doesn’t go vulgar and offensive, that would have been the final nail. Not attempting to sound preachy and righteous but it also warranties misdeeds in a very ''Karma bites back'' tone. Had Farah stuck to one theme, Happy New Year could have been a much better film.

As far as the editing goes, a three hour long film is enough to convey the expertise of the editing department. On the brighter side, it could have been a tirade probably but we were saved because of them.

The forgettable music of this apparent dance film is another flaw with the film.

Happy New Year Full Movie Review The Last Word: Happy New Year is a muddled mess which has its own warm moments but as a package fails to work. Three hours of Shah Rukh flaunting his abs and swagger gets too much to take minus a strong storyline. Farah Khan has redeemed Tees Maar Khan but Happy New Year is her most mediocre work. I am going with 2/5. It’s a magnum opus which is pretty much hollow from within and remains an all frills, no thrills show.

Pyaar Vali Love Story Full Movie Review

No comments :

Movie: Pyaar Vali Love Story
Rating: 2/5 Stars [Two stars]
Star Cast: Swapnil Joshi, Sai Tamhankar, Urmila Kanitkar, Upendra Limaye, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Nagesh Bhosale, Chinmay Mandlekar
Director: Sanjay Jadhav
What’s Good: Watching Swapnil Joshi play the DDLJ’s Raj and say his punchline 'Arre Aao Na Phir'.
What’s Bad: The story line that does not provide much fodder for a romantic drama and even fails at wooing you with its music.
Loo break: Yeah! Sure.

Watch or Not ?: Pyaar Vali Love Story has little novelty to it. The love, action and emotions are nothing that you haven’t seen before. Other than a good chemistry between the lead pair, there is less to look forward to. Watch it only if you have some eternal faith in love stories but I warn you! Not necessary that you will find a happy ending here.

A love story set in the backdrop of communal war, Pyaar Vali Love Story is a romantic drama of Aliya a young Muslim girl who falls in love with Amar a Hindu lad. In spite of having good family relations, what happens when it comes choosing between love and community is all that the film revolves around.
In the midst of Hindu-Muslim riots of 90s, will their love survive this test of time?

Pyaar Vali Love Story Full Movie Review Script Analysis: Coming from the makers of superhit Marathi drama Duniyadari, this film turns out disappointing. The Hindu-Muslim love story has a heavy Bollywood influence to it specially when it comes to the characters. Amar is like the DDLJ’s Raj and has an instant likability towards him. With a predictable storyline, the punchlines of lead characters almost seem forced. The love angle could have been involved a bit more since it seems hurried in parts.

Dialogues are quirky in between and certain scenes have a good comic timing especially those with one of the lead characters called Nandini. Overall, the script becomes weak in the second half. The film in bits and pieces reminds of epic Bollywood love stories like DDLJ and also Veer-Zaara which was a Hindu-Muslim love story.

Pyaar Vali Love Story Full Movie Review Star Performances: Swapnil Joshi who plays the male lead is undoubtedly Marathi cinema’s chocolate hero. The actor slips into his role with an amazing ease. His punchline 'Arre Aao Na Phir' certainly makes us smile every time that he cracks it.

Sai Tamhankar who is the female lead is quite likable. The actress playing a young Muslim girl looks stunning and does a fine job at acting too.

The supporting characters played by Upendra Limaye, Sameer Dharmadhikari and Urmila Kanetkar Kothare are also apt for their roles. Although Kadar Bhaai played by Upendra Limaye does stand out.

Pyaar Vali Love Story Full Movie Review Direction. Editing & Screenplay: It seems like after watching 'Duniyadari' my expectations were sky high from this film but sadly Pyaar Vali Love Story doesn’t quite work for me. Sanjay Jadhav fails to build the charm of a love story.

Moreover, when handling a subject like communal riots, there has to be enough thought behind it. In a scene where Amar and Aliya who have eloped from their home in the midst of riots, they are seen hiding comfortably near a bridge sharing intimate moments which is quite disappointing given the situation.

Also, it would have been wiser to use better editing effects in the film as certain scenes look quite raw. Another problem for me was the music which has a heavy inspiration from South with fast paced beats unlike any romantic tracks that you would like to listen in a 'Pyaar Vali Love Story'.

Pyaar Vali Love Story Full Movie Review The Last Word: The film comes out like a half-baked attempt at giving us a love story along with a communal angle but sadly none of it proves its point by the end. The love story as such does not quite bloom well in spite of a good chemistry among the lead pair. It is a regular story that is highly predictable and disappointing by the end. I am going with a 2/5 for this film.

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte Full Movie Review

No comments :

Movie: Dr. Prakash Baba Amte
Rating: 3.5 / 5 Stars [Three and a half stars]
Star Cast: Nana Patekar, Sonali Kulkarni
Director: Manohar Porey

What's Good: Almost everything. The film scores high on two main aspects, one being the brilliant performances of Nana Patekar and Sonali Kulkarni and the other being the necessity of such a story to be shown on celluloid. This film is exemplary of what should be without biopics hailing the protagonist as a 'hero' in a forced manner. Some stories need to be heard and this is surely one of them.

What's Bad: Well, after one rants praises enough, dealing with the negatives is tough and with this film my judgment falters considering only if you get into the nitty gritty of it, there are flaws. Other than a few technical glitches which can easily be overlooked, there is nothing worth a mention here.

Loo break: None.

Watch or Not?: This movie is an eye-opener of sorts and thus is a recommendation for all those who like to invest their time in cinema that is informative and inculcates a certain thought process for you. It is a cherry for those who want to be introduced to the little known figure that Dr. Prakash sarvekshaṇa is and I would suggest get amazed by it as this is not one of those films that will just pass you by.

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte is a biopic on the life of Dr. Prakash sarvekshaṇa who is an acclaimed social worker. It simply deals with the kind of struggle that he and his wife Mandakini sarvekshaṇa went through when they decided to give up all the luxuries of life and dedicate their knowledge for the upliftment of a small village called Hemalkasa.

It is an engaging story of the couple who stand by each other through thick and thin to bring about a change in society and succeed at it.

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte Full Movie Review Script Analysis: With an excellent story to tell, the film comes through as a necessary biopic sharing an engaging tale. While simplicity drives this story, it manages to hit you with reality just where it is needed. There are some portions in the film that will make you self-introspect your lifestyle. Based on real life events, the themes of social integration of the Adivasis to the problems with Naxalites, the film throws light on the life of Dr. Prakash Amte and his recognized work without making him a ‘heroic figure’ in a commercial manner.

Certain scenes in the film such as the delivery scene of an Adivasi woman in a tribal area when Amte and his wife are forced to operate the patient without any medical equipment literally gives you goosebumps and the sheer thought of it makes one wonder the kind of difficulties the couple has faced to strive for the upliftment of the underprivileged. Another winning point in the script is the fact that it is not limited to highlighting the achievements of Prakash Amte, the story weaves beautifully around his personal life too with the portrayal of simplistic conversations between the husband-wife.

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte Full Movie Review Star Performances: Nana Patekar plays the character to its truest form and it is hard to recognize him as anything else in the film but as Dr. Prakash Amte. He lives the role quite literally. In real life being in close association with the Amte clan, Nana proves to be the best choice for this role.

Sonali Kulkarni too who plays the role of Mandakkini Amte, the wife of Prakash Amte does a fine job. Previously too known for her brilliant acting prowess, Sonali lives up to it as she easily gets into the character of Manda who is a lovable character in the film.

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte Full Movie Review Direction. Editing and Screenplay: Director Samruddhi Porey once again comes up with a brilliant story after her acclaimed work of ‘Mala Aai Vhayachay‘. Handling this biopic with much care, she picks up the right portions of Amte’s life that needed a mention on the celluloid. The film is well-built as it transitions finely into the past and present day situations. With a stellar star cast, there is little concern for the director as the film completely rides on the shoulders of her protagonists.

As mentioned earlier, the film does have some technical glitches such as the graphics in certain scenes could have been better but overall the film wins its brownie points with cinematography which manages to show Hemalkasa and its forests quite beautifully.

The film in its two hours takes you through an intense journey without making you feel overburdened by the seriousness of the issues that it handles.

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte Full Movie Review The Last Word: Dr. Prakash Baba Amte is another example of Marathi cinema recognizing the skill and the eye required to make biopics. After successful biopics on Bal Gandharva and Harishchandrachi Factory, this one is an addition to the list. A serious film that has its light moments, Dr. Prakash Baba Amte is an insightful film that outshines with its content quality and is a well-deserved watch. Rarely does one come across films that make you ruminate on its story. I am going with a 3.5/5 for this film. A must-watch for all those, who would like to learn a little about what a bunch of modest people can do to bring about a change.

Sonali Cable Full Movie Review

No comments :

Movie: Sonali Cable
Rating: 1/5 Stars [One star]
Star Cast: Rhea Chakraborty, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher, Swanand Kirkire, Raghav Juyal, Smit Jaykar
Director: Charu Dutt Acharya
What's Good: Nearly nothing.
What's Bad: The screenplay, the script, the direction and mostly the editing.
Loo break: Loo is the best idea to survive Such films.

Watch or Not?: Sonali Cable is one of Those Films That Will infuriate you with Its dragging plotline. When you are on the brink of boredom's last limit, it will Push you down to convey That the film can go worsen. Now That I Have Made it Clear That I Have hated the film, let me answers why you. The film is a convoluted messer That bites into more Than it there Chew. Ticking off romance, political saga, Corporate monopoly to melodrama, the film Makes a Glorious hotch potch out of it all. Sonali Cable is a classic example of a good Concept butchered and despite earnest Actors like Ali and Rhea trying to make it all seem believable to you, the film is pretty much unwatchable tirade you should not even consider Watching.

Sonali [Rhea] owns a Local Cable support center along with a Local MLA, WHO has partnered with her to win Hearts as Well as votes. She and her bunch of boys are internet experts, fixing 404 and 586 errors in no time. She enjoys good based CUSTOMER until attacked by Shining's Corporation's offer to defraud down thei internet service, a company looking to monopolize Its hold over the broadband developer Tecnoempleo.

Sonali is ferocious and wouldn not Give in and with the support and love of her childhood sweetheart Thisra [Ali Fazal], she Takes on the Big Corporation single handedly and brings Thema down with courage. Sonali Cable celebrates the power of underdog.

Sonali Cable Full Movie Review Script Analysis: Let me begin by saying Sonali Cable isn’t a very diluted concept in Bollywood. The take might be partly novel, but when you have made a film that bad, it is hard to look at the brighter side of things. A small cable center supported by a local MLA, faces massive trouble when a big Corporate company decides on acquiring the small cable centers providing broadband services and replace it with their brand Shining. They want to conquer to the whole market, from soap to oil to water to cable. Their aim is to create the most unique consumer-company. Strategically placed in the middle of all this is the basic drama of the film. In plain terms, it is a confused drama that doesn’t achieve anything in its climax either. The climax is simply a crash course on how to get an elephant do disco.

The film never attempts to raise the bar for itself, be it in its love story that requires the needed chemistry or in rest of things it is attempting to say. It ends up being sucked in further and further into the mess it draws for itself. Most characters in the film fail to get fleshed out enough and even Sonali herself who leads the mandate cannot convince the audience of her pain, angst, love, passion or energy.

Ali Fazal, who was a surprise package in Bobby Jasoos and whose love story with Vidya Balan in the film was a palpable one, that stayed absolutely wasted in this film. It is a wasted plot that tries too much and eventually achieves nothing of it. But a contrived climax and the predictable storyline makes the film a hard to bear bore tale, which by interval has you guffawing at its sheer stupidity and by end pushes you into snoreland.

Sonali Cable Full Movie Review Star Performances: I did not quite like Rhea Chakraborty’s work in the film. But I can safely say atleast she was earnest in the film. The lady has visibly worked on her lingo and twang in the film. Though clearly not authentic, her effort for the role of Sonali showed.

Ali Fazal is not even close to what he is capable of. The actor has good potential and this film fails to unleash it. The chemistry with Rhea is also not sizzling as one would expect. In a particular make-out scene between the two, the required zing was starkly missing.

Raghu Juyal, who plays Sada in the movie is rather better than the leads. In his little stint, the actor does a good job enough to be remembered despite the movie being nothing short of a dud.

Smita Jaykar overplays her role of a ruthless MLA. Lacking in subtlety and the desired political viciousness, she almost sleepwalked through her role and managed to be passable because of her experience.

Sonali Cable Full Movie Review Direction, Editing and Screenplay: Charudutt Acharya begins on a good note but loses plot soon enough. The biggest hitch in the film is that it doesn’t focus single mindedly on its theme, trying its hand at too many themes. The not-needed melodrama of a broken childhood backstory for Sonali and the death of her friend both remain impactless. The problem is also that the film lacks a sense of calm. Before a scene settles in, the director throws to you something, not allowing any sentiment to be grasped wholly by the audience. This is bad editing but it is Acharya’s wobbly vision that could not forsee this. In this film, there a bunch of sincere actors who are lumped with a contorted narrative. The laughs are unintentional, the swag flops and eventually all that remains is just a bland, bad film which is hard to sit through.

Sonali Cable Full Movie Review The Last Word: Sonali Cable doesn’t offer much in terms of cinema. I do get what the makers were trying to drive home [a theme bigger than the purview of this film for sure] but a tiresome narrative doesn’t yield much goodness. Once out of the theater, it is the kind of film that will make you feel why did you waste your time. Filled with wrong laughs, false frills and a build up that doesn’t make for an enticing climax, Sonali Cable‘s underdog story doesn’t quite work. I am going with a judicious 1 star.

Tamanchey Full Movie Review

No comments :

Movie: Tamanchey
Rating: 1/5 Stars (One star)
Star Cast: Nikhil Dwivedi, Richa Chadda, Damandeep Singh
Director: Navneet Behal
What’s Good: Cheeky dialogues and the boisterous Richa Chadda.
What’s Bad: Everything else.
Loo break: Go with your magazines to the loo.

Watch or Not?: Tamanchey is easily an avoidable film. A movie that celebrates slang like it is the most enriching language ever to narrate a predictable, lame and unconvincing story, there can’t be any kind words for it. I have no idea why Nikhil Dwivedi is in profession which is clearly not for him and in a film where every time he is around Richa Chadda, he is crushed to the core. It’s a plain terrible film that is nothing more than a waste of time and an encyclopedia of needless cussing. Try to not watch it and retain your sanity.
Munna [Nikhil] and Babu [Richa] meet after a police van accident where all criminals and policemen die. In between the firing guns, the two click off well. And soon they fall in love. The two are on the run and their love story goes hassle-free for a while after which Babu goes absconding. Further into the story Babu turns out to be the mistress of dreaded gang lord Rana Tau [Damandeep]. Munna cannot fight the mighty and indispensable but will love force him for it is what the film holds in store for us.

Tamanchey Full Movie Review Script Analysis: I wish I could say what script but the predictable narrative and the lack of novelty means a lack of good script but a script was surely in place for the film. It was predictable and not exactly unseen. Hero and heroine fall in love. She is the mistress of a menacing Gangster and the story kicks off. Not anything marvelous right?

The thing with such stories is that it rides on swag and though I can’t say a thing about the guy, our leading lady is top notch, every bit brilliant and full of enthusiasm. I feel bad for the kind of thankless roles she is meted with. She has the tapestry for better and the small part in Ramleela gave her more than a two hour long film which is sheer drudgery to watch unless she works to save it.

When you lie back and watch the film, you lose interest not because of bad acting as much as the bad story. The opening sequence begins with promise and just when I had begun thinking that dialogue-baazi can save the movie, the tempo drops almost to make this film a convoluted mess. There is no depth to the film’s writing. And despite a few memorable and crackling dialogues, the script lacks the needed crispness which could have made the film rise above mediocrity.

Tamanchey Full Movie Review Star Performances: Richa Chadda is feisty and brilliant in the film. It’s quirky, has a distinct zing in it and though the film falters, she doesn’t giving a performance that is amongst the film’s few good things.
Nikhil Dwivedi tries to be earnest but seems rehearsed. He is better than average but when pitted against Richa, he doesn’t quite a stand a chance of doing a better job.

It is Damandeep Singh who shows better promise than Nikhil. With a menacing look steady on his face, he builds his character beyond the stretches of the script’s limitations. His personality governs the role and he is matchless mostly.

Tamanchey Full Movie Review Direction. Editing and Screenplay: Navneet Behal begins well but soon into the film, he hopes that he can pass off his not so novel, unconvincing and very predictable story in the garb of cussing and sizzling dialogues. I am not sure how much to blame him but hell he has made such a bad film, which was almost a torture to bear first thing today morning, he surely couldn’t build on the promise he shows. There is a scene where the lovers make out in middle of a bank robbery. There is a certain edginess missing from the whole affair. Swag, quirk and thrill were the main ingredients and in absence of any the film becomes flat. By the end all these go missing and the inexperienced director focuses too hard on pace than adding soul to his film. It is his failure that the film couldn’t become watchable. A special word for the editing department: they keep the story tight and doesn't let it waste on superfluities..

Tamanchey Full Movie Review The Last Word: Tamanchey is soul-less tirade that is almost impossible to sit through. I am a survivor of the two hours of torture which should have had swagger, it doesn’t, should have had wit but it doesn’t and afterall the film should have had thrill which is absolutely absent from it. So what’s left? Yes, it is pretty much 2 hours of drudgery you should save yourself from. I am going with 1/5.
